TreyJade brainrot hitting me so hard they even came to invade my dreams... I HAD to write it down (since I can't go back to sleep anyway......)

Drabble below the cut!

A comfortable silence settled between Trey and Jade, occasionally shattered only by the rustle of turning pages and the distant, muted sounds of campus life—a far-off laugh, the rhythmic thud of someone practicing spelldrive nearby. Trey was diligently working through a complex potions textbook, brow furrowed slightly in concentration, while Jade was calmly reading his mushroom encyclopedia, occasionally making precise notes in his journal.

It was a familiar rhythm, this quiet companionship. Jade found a certain peace in these shared moments of study, the tranquility almost warm and home-like compared to the usual complexities of their interactions. He appreciated Trey's focused dedication, the steady presence beside him.

His own focus, however, was momentarily broken by a subtle shift. He felt, rather than saw, the tension ease from Trey's shoulders beside him. Trey's breathing—usually quiet but regular—deepened slightly, becoming slower, softer. Jade glanced over, noting the slight relaxation of Trey's features, the way his head had begun to lean slowly towards Jade's shoulder.

Then, a soft weight settled against him. Jade stiffened instinctively for a fraction of a second, startled by the sudden, warm pressure, even when he was anticipating it. Trey's head had come to rest fully against his shoulder, green hair brushing softly against the fabric of Jade's uniform.

He'd fallen asleep.

A small smile involuntarily touched Jade's lips, softening the usually precise line of his mouth. It was rare to see Trey so completely unguarded, the lines of concentration smoothed away, replaced by the profound peace of sleep. The sight stirred an unexpected warmth within Jade's chest.

With movements practiced in delicacy, Jade carefully reached over. His gloved fingers gently slipped Trey's glasses from his face, the familiar frames cool against his touch. As he was doing so, Jade's eyes fell upon the open potions book that now lay forgotten, having fallen onto Trey's lap. Jade reached down again, his touch featherlight as he retrieved it, marked the page with a stray bookmark, and closed it softly, setting it aside on the bench, placing the now-folded glasses securely on top of it.

He paused, observing the peaceful slope of Trey's brow and the way his lashes rested against his cheek. The steady, rhythmic rise and fall of his breathing was a calming sound in the quiet courtyard. Driven by an impulse that felt both foreign and deeply right, Jade leaned down just slightly. He pressed a brief, feather-light kiss to the center of Trey's forehead.

"Sleep well, Trey-san," Jade whispered, the sound softer than he intended—softer than he'd thought he was capable of—as he drew back.

With the small smile still lingering, Jade settled again. He adjusted his position slightly, careful not to disturb the sleeping figure leaning against him. Then, picking up his own book once more, he returned his attention to the poisonous fungi; the familiar weight of Trey a warm, grounding presence beside him as the afternoon sun began to dip lower.

Afterwards.........

I woke up... at 3 a.m..... because I got hungry.

Hello everyone. I have an announcement to make.......

I am much too brainrotted. It is genuinely so bad, to the point where I can't even focus on classes or my assignments. So I... I have to—I have to take a... short... break from. AO3... AUGH...... and... Writing... TreyJade...... AGH PAIN. And going on Tumblr.... typing this is hurting my soul... to lessen the amount of brainrot that I have going on at the moment. I have even forgotten to eat and sleep in favour of feeding the TreyJade brainrot (no I did not forget. I deliberately chose not to do those things because I am an idiot that can't interrupt myself once I've started doing something)

So if you see me commenting or posting anything unimportant on Tumblr, or if you see me leaving a comment on AO3—if I break my own promise, then PLEASE YELL AT ME. HELP ME RETURN TO MY SENSES...... I HAVE TRIED SO MANY TIMES TO STOP MYSELF BUT I CAN'T. I NEED SOMEBODY TO HOLD ME BACK. PLEASE. GIVE ME A VIRTUAL SLAP IN THE FACE IF YOU WOULD. Except I'll come back after pulling for Jade just to yell about the results.

Cough. Anyway.

I will need to step out for a while until I can get my life back on track. (I'll come back momentarily just to post that pull result, though) Hopefully, I can get back to brainrotting about TreyJade before May ends... I do love writing these two, and I don't want to step away for too long... I'm truly sorry for getting your hopes up, and for making you wait for such a minor reason. I wish I didn't have to do this, but... </3
